Where Is Commander O Neil And How To Reach Him

Locating optional bosses in Elden Ring can often be a challenging task due to the vast and complex layout of the Lands Between. Among these formidable foes is Commander O'Neil, a tough opponent necessary for completing side quests linked to Gowry and Millicent. Knowing exact routes and nearby Sites of Grace ensures you can reach his location without getting lost or overwhelmed.

Exact Map Location of Commander O'Neil

Commander O'Neil is stationed deep within the region of Caelid, specifically positioned in the heart of the Swamp of Aeonia. This treacherous crimson swamp is notorious for its hazardous terrain that quickly builds up deadly Scarlet Rot. Finding him requires venturing toward the central portion of the swamp basin where he guards the inner clearing.

Best Routes and Recommended Access Points

To reach the boss safely, travelers are advised to approach from the northern side of the swamp rather than crossing straight through the middle. Pathing toward the Sellia Under Stair area allows you to navigate down toward the Inner Aeonia Site of Grace. From this resting spot, heading directly southwest leads right into the arena where Commander O'Neil resides.

Preparing for the Journey and Environmental Hazards

Navigating through Caelid requires careful management of poison status effects and environmental rot traps. Utilizing your spectral steed Torrent is highly effective for riding across the toxic waters without taking continuous damage. Taking time to rest at nearby checkpoints helps ensure full health before engaging in the encounter.

Why Finding Commander O'Neil Matters

Defeating Commander O'Neil provides valuable rewards including unique weapons, Runes, and key quest items like the Unalloyed Gold Needle. His defeat unlocks crucial storyline progressions for several major non-playable characters. Planning your travel route properly makes taking on this optional encounter much more manageable.
